About This Project
Transport for NSW needed a tool to help them visualise and predict the impacts of service plan changes and track maintenance across their network. With a 12% increase in transport users since 2015 and massive data from the Opal Ticketing System, they needed a way to transform this information into meaningful insights for decision-making.
Previously, this knowledge was held by only a few key people, but it needed to be accessible to the entire team. They required a repeatable, predictable way to manipulate data inputs to create optimised service plans that met customer needs.

Design Process
I worked closely with Transport NSW and Veitch Lister Consulting to understand the available data and the decisions that needed to be made. Through discovery sessions, I mapped out user journeys and information architecture to determine how to best present and interact with complex transport data.
I designed an interface that visualised service impacts across the network, displaying changes to wait times, interchange times, and in-vehicle times. The mapping visualisations helped users understand where disruptions would occur, while graphs and data displays showed customer impact for different service plan scenarios.

My design created intuitive reports that allowed users to filter by time of day, specific stations, and train lines, making it easy to identify the most affected areas and plan for sufficient replacement services.
